Window-Windcatcher for Enhanced Thermal Comfort, Natural Ventilation and Reduced COVID-19 Transmission

We investigate and test the effectiveness of a novel window windcatcher device (WWC), as means improving natural ventilation in buildings. Using ANSYS CFX, performance window-windcatcher is compared to control case (no window-windcatcher), three different geographic locations (Cardiff, Doha Amman) which are representative types atmospheric conditions. The proposed has been shown improve both thermal comfort indoor air quality by increasing actual-to-required ratio up 9% per American Society Heating, Refrigerating Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) standards. In addition, with minimum velocities have identified. Those correspond regions lower infection risk spreading airborne viruses such SARS-CoV-2, responsible for COVID-19 pandemic.
